Hello! My name is Angelina Taylor.
I am eight years old and I live in Drim. I have two sisters, Alana and Rebecca and a baby brother called T.J. My sisters and I go to school but T.J. is too young to go to school yet. I go to Drim N.S. which is a half-mile from our house. I am in Third Class and I learn Irish, English, maths, history, geography, religion, environmental studies and joined writing. My favourite subject is geography and I also like doing joined writing. My teacher says that my writing is very good. My teacher’s name is Miss McMahon and the other teacher’s name is Miss Kerrigan. Our school is a two-teacher school with thirty pupils. My sister who is only six years old is reading the third ‘Harry Potter’ book. She is enjoying it and I think that is excellent! I like where I’m living and I will never want to move!
Hello! My name is Maeve Cooney.
I live in Barratoore, Kylebrack, Loughrea, Co. Galway. I am eleven years old. I am in fourth class. I live on a farm in the country. I have a cow called Molly. She is velvet black with a white speck on her forehead. She has a calf called “ Lolly” and another one called “ Good Golly.” My pony’s name is Lightning. He is grey and I can ride him. I have a kitten called “Tinker Bell.” My hobbies are camogie, soccer, Gaelic football, basketball, tennis, and swimming. I have two brothers Rónán and Oisín. I go to Drim National School. There are thirty children altogether in my school. There are five children in my class - three girls and two boys. Last week I got a ride in a helicopter. I could see my house and my friend’s house. It was so cool!

I have two dogs and nineteen pigs. Both of my parents have a motorbike. My hobbies are tennis and cycling. I go to piano lessons in Loughrea.

miles from Drim School. My best friends are Niall and Bryan.

My mother and father work in Galway. Sometimes I sleep at my granny’s
house which is beside the school. Then I walk to school from there.

I am twelve years old. I have one brother,
Richard and he lives in Luxembourg. I live with my parents and my
granny. I have a lot of friends and cousins. I live in a little
village called Barratoore, which is about ten miles from the town of
Loughrea. I have one dog, Lucky and a calf, Maggie. My hobbies are
cycling, walking, tennis, basketball, chairball, reading, soccer,
drawing and using the computer. My favourite programmes are: "Sabrina,”
"Home and Away,” "Sister Sister" and some soaps. I live in the parish
of Ballinakill. Fr. Lawless is the Parish Priest. I go to Drim N.S.
I am going to Woodford Secondary School in September 2002.
Hello! My name is Rónán Cooney.
I am twelve years old and I live in Barratoore.
My hobbies are climbing, swimming, cycling, building tree houses,
reading, playing the Nintendo 64, drawing, painting and most important
of all, fishing. My family consists of four other people: my mother,
my father, my sister, Maeve and my little brother, Oisín.
My mother works in a bank and my father is a farmer but he also works
in a quarry. I have two grannies and one granddad.
My school was built in 1941 during World War 2. All my father’s
brothers and sisters went to Drim School. My father’s mother and her
brothers and sisters went to the old school, which was built about
1920 near the present school. Nothing is left of the old school today.
Some people say that the present school was the best built school in
the parish. Our school is built on a little hill. The name ‘Drim’
comes from the Irish word ‘drom’ which means, ‘a small hill’ or ‘a
ridge’. The name of the school is Irish is ‘Scoil Náisiúnta an Droma’.
The school used to be surrounded by trees but they had to cut them down to
extend the play area. The sports field is at the back of the
school.
Hello! My name is Paul Farrell.
I am twelve years old. I have one brother,
Shane who is ten years old, and one sister, Lorraine who is seven
years old. My father delivers oil for Texaco and my mother works for
a company in Galway city. My mother and her brother went to Drim N.S.
My father went to school in Duniry. He has three brothers and one
sister. I have cousins in the U.S. that visit Ireland every seven years.
My granny and her seven brothers and five sisters went to the old school.
My favourite hobbies are drawing, sketching, hurling, soccer and playing
with Pokemon cards. My favourite T.V. programme is ‘The Tribe’.
Every morning, I get up at half past six and go to my granny’s house
in Drim. Then I go back to bed and I get up at nine o’clock for school.
Drim N.S. was built in 1941. We celebrated the school’s Diamond
Jubilee last October. It was a great night. We produced a booklet,
“Drim N.S. Diamond Jubilee Magazine.” Past pupils and a past teacher of
the school wrote articles for it and all the children wrote poems or
stories for the magazine. We collected photographs of past pupils and
teachers and put them in the magazine also. We are fund raising for our
school. We hope that the two new classrooms will be built next year.
Hello! My name is Aisling Daniels.
I live in Callatra, Kylebrack, Loughrea,
Co. Galway. I am ten years old and I have a sister, Regina who is
thirteen years old, a brother Cathal who is five years old and a
baby sister called Leagh. My father’s name is Gerry and my mother’s
name is Marguerita. My grandmother also lives with us and her name is
Kathleen. My hobbies are music, dancing and horse riding.
I have a pony called Squirrel and sometimes I ride my sister’s pony,
Daisy. I go to Pony Club rallies every week where I learn to ride and
take care of my pony.
